What is the Manta Point dive?

Manta Point is a shallow cleaning station off the southwest coast of Nusa Penida where reef mantas circle while cleaner fish tend to them. It is a 2-tank boat dive for certified divers, run as a full day from Sanur. Depth stays between 5 and 25 metres, so most of the dive is in the bright, shallow water where mantas glide closest.

What will you see?

Reef manta rays with wingspans up to 4 metres are the headline. The site is rocky and surge-prone rather than coral-rich, which is exactly why the mantas love it. Between manta passes you will see cleaner wrasse, schooling fish, and the occasional turtle. Our second dive moves to Crystal Bay or Gamat Bay for calmer, coral-covered scenery — and, from July to October, a chance at the mola-mola (oceanic sunfish).

How do you get there?

We pick you up from your hotel in Sanur, Kuta, Seminyak, or Nusa Dua and drive to Sanur harbour. The speedboat crossing to Nusa Penida takes about 45 minutes. All diving is from the boat, with a maximum of 6 divers per guide.

Best time to dive Manta Point

The dry season, April to October, brings 20–30 metre visibility and the calmest seas. Mantas are resident year-round, so wet-season dives still deliver — visibility is simply lower and the crossing can be bumpier. We watch the swell daily and will always tell you honestly if conditions favour a different site.
