Diving in Nusa Penida: Bali's Manta and Mola-Mola Capital
Nusa Penida is Bali's best diving, a 45-minute boat ride from Sanur. It is home to a year-round manta cleaning station at Manta Point and, from July to October, the rare oceanic sunfish (mola-mola) at Crystal Bay. Currents are strong, so dive it with a guide who reads the tide.

Why dive Nusa Penida?
Nusa Penida packs Bali’s most exciting diving into a single island a short boat ride from Sanur. It has a year-round manta cleaning station, a seasonal mola-mola hotspot, dramatic drift walls, and coral bays — all within a day trip. The trade-off is current, which is exactly why it rewards diving with a good guide.
What will you see at each site?
Manta Point is a shallow cleaning station where reef mantas circle from 5 to 25 metres. Crystal Bay is deeper and clearer, famous for the oceanic sunfish (mola-mola) from July to October. Gamat Bay is a gentle coral slope full of macro life, and Blue Corner is a fast, advanced drift for experienced divers only.
How do you dive Nusa Penida safely?
We dive it with small groups (max 6), time every dive to the tide, and brief drift technique before we descend. Your guide chooses the two best sites for the day’s conditions and your certification — and will always be honest if the sea says wait.

- Crystal Bay runs cool in mola season; a 5mm wetsuit helps.
