Diving in Amed: Calm Coral Gardens and Macro Heaven

Amed is the gentle side of Bali diving — sheltered bays, healthy coral gardens, and an easy shallow wreck, all with mild currents and visibility that often tops 20 metres. It is ideal for newer divers, macro lovers, and snorkelers, and pairs perfectly with a Tulamben wreck day.

Why dive Amed?

Amed is calm, shallow, and easy — a string of sheltered bays with healthy coral and gentle currents. It is the place for newer divers to build confidence, for macro photographers to slow down, and for snorkelers to join the day. Visibility regularly tops 20 metres.

What will you find underwater?

Coral gardens, the fish-packed artificial Pyramids reef, and a shallow Japanese wreck close to shore. Amed is a macro paradise: nudibranchs, frogfish, ghost pipefish, and garden eels, with turtles cruising the reef and good light all the way down.

Can you combine Amed with Tulamben?

Easily — they are neighbours. Pair Amed’s gentle reefs with the USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben for a relaxed two-area day, or build a multi-day package across east Bali. It is the unhurried way to see the best of the coast.
