How Much Does PADI Open Water Certification Cost in Bali?
By Komang Ayu, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer · 28 May 2026
Getting PADI certified in Bali is one of the best-value courses in the world. Here is exactly what it costs, what should be included, and how it compares to certifying at home.
How much is the PADI Open Water course in Bali?
At Ombak Bali, the 3-day PADI Open Water course starts from Rp 5.500.000 (about USD 360) per person. That price includes all equipment, PADI e-learning, pool sessions, and 4 open-water dives, with a maximum of 4 students per instructor.
What should be included in the price?
Before you book anywhere, check that the quote covers all of this:
- PADI e-learning (the online theory)
- All scuba equipment for the full course
- Confined-water (pool) training
- 4 open-water training dives
- Certification card processing
- Hotel pickup and drop-off
If a cheaper quote leaves out e-learning, equipment, or certification fees, the real cost ends up similar — or higher.
How does Bali compare to certifying at home?
Bali is dramatically cheaper. The same PADI Open Water certification typically costs USD 500–700 in Australia, the UK, or the US, often spread over colder, less inviting water. In Bali you pay around a third of that and train on warm, clear reefs.
How long does it take?
Three days on-site, plus the online e-learning (around 4–6 hours) that you complete before you arrive. Finishing the theory in advance keeps your days in Bali focused on diving, not screens.
